    A WORD ABOUT REALISM AND A SENSE OF HUMOUR
    We strive to make all our addons as realistic as the game engine and our own capabilities allow.  We all know that ArmA has some interesting moments with PhysX while we have tried to limit these without compromising the addon... things just happen sometimes. Do let us know.  But also accept that we may not be able to fix everything.
        COMMUNITY COMPATIBILITY
    It has always been a basic tenant of RKSL Studios design philosophy not to negatively affect other community made content.  We do not replace core values or modify anything that will affect the function or experience of others.
    We are happy to discuss optional compatibility patches, but will not exclusively adapt our addons to anyone else's Mod standards.
    All RKSL Content is tested against the currently available stable build of the Vanilla game and official expansions.

  2. RKSL Puma HC1 for A3

    RKSL Studios presents the Official Port of our Puma HC1.
    NOTE:  I'm not entirely happy with this release but im getting pretty frustrated with custom animations.  So much so i need a break from it, lest it get binned.  So I'm releasing it as a BETA and taking a little break from the project to work on fixes for the Foxhound and some other things.
    The Puma HC1 first entered service in 1971, and the RAF currently has a fleet of 34 aircraft available to the front-line Support Helicopter Force. The aircraft are operated by Nos 33 and 230 Squadrons, both based at RAF Benson. The combined Puma Force is separated into 5 operational flights and an operational conversion flight, which offers flexibility in its role with both desert warfare and arctic warfare specialist equipment available for fitting to the aircraft.

    This model was first made in 2008.  And bar a few tweaks and fixes hasn't really changed too much.  The UV mapping and poly count were designed for the ArmA1 game engine. ArmA3 is far more capable and flexible than anything we had back then.  Which means that this particular model is not going to be developed any further.
    I will continue to support the release until the new models for the HC2 and AS330 Series helos comes online.

    Things you need to know if you intend on flying the Puma to its limits..
    Speed and Limits:
    Vne = 257kph - Velocity Never Exceed.  This is the absolute max safe speed of the aircraft.  Going faster than this may result in damage to the airframe or loss of control.
    Notes:
    The Puma HC1 has a very high centre of gravity. Be careful when: taxiing during rolling landings. max safe speed for rolling landing is 75kph Watch for loss of lift when making sharp braking turns. In AFM Try not to use too much rudder about 160kph. Similarly, be careful about pulling up rapidly and over torquing the main rotor.
      A Word About Realism
    We strive to make all our addons as realistic as the game engine and our own capabilities allow.
    This means that real world speeds and capabilities are simulated where possible.  Compromises have and will be made where necessary but we will not downscale or completely cripple an aircraft, system or weapon to fit into the limited spaces some ArmA maps provide.
    We genuinely believe that the manual operation of aircraft is a skill that should be interesting and fun.  Not every aircraft flies the same nor do they have the same capabilities. If you can't learn and adapt to change then stick with the vanilla equipment.
    The Puma has been designed from the ground up to use the Advanced Flight Model.  A lot of effort has gone into developing it, give it a try.  Its pretty forgiving and damage tolerant.  Take the time to learn it and you won't be disappointed.

  3. RKSL Studios: Training Objects

    RKSL Studios presents the our Training and Support Objects Pack v3.001 This addon adds a number of targets, props, objects and escaped easter eggs. During the development of our addons we created a number of addons to help test and train member's of our affiliated Gaming Units.

    PLEASE NOTE: This is just an initial release and will be constantly added to as an when new objects are available.

    LEGAL DISCLAIMER - RKSL Studios addons are distributed without any warranty; without even the implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
    - The RKSL Studios addons are not an official Addon or tool.
    - The use of these addons (in whole or in part) is entirely at your own risk.

    The Full End User Licensing Agreement for this addon pack is available here:

    PACK CONTENTS 1) Naval Gunnery Targets aka Killer Tomato
    These are 4m inflatable cubes typically used for small arms and crew served weapons practice from Warships. Designed to slowly deflate once hit to allow a decent training time period they will take multiple hits from largish caliber round before deflating. For the purposes of the game we have made these both IR and Radar emitters. They also present an easily lockable visual target. We've been using these to test new aircraft and weapons for a while now.

    They come in three colours: Orange, Blue and Green.

    2) Gunnery Banner Target
    A 6m x 1m cloth banner target designed to be used to test a Pilot's skills with aircraft guns, but can also be used for tanks and missiles if desired. It's up you how you use them but In our gaming groups we usually have a scripted training mission which records the hits. And can reset the banner once destroyed. An example mission may follow at a later date.

    3) The Famous RKSL Ducks
    Who doesn't love a Rubber Duck? Born from an April Fools joke, the rubber duck has become a bit of a running theme in RKSL addons and our affiliated gaming groups.

    We've added them because, well why not? It's a bit of a laugh really. We've been pranking each other with them for a while. Dropping them on each other, hiding them in missions, generally Ducking around. And we guarentee your kids will love them. Oh and they act just like the Killer Tomatoes when shot at.

    The Ducks come in 4 sizes.
    Large ~8m wide.
    Medium ~4m wide.
    Small ~2m wide.
    Very Small ~1 wide.

    And because WLD427 mentioned that his daughter had a (rubber) Swan we present: April's Swan. A bit like a duck, the same basic functions, but 'prettier'.

    4) Project UKF Lilt Can.
    A nod to our old friends of the OFP/ArmA1 and ArmA2 Project-UKF Mod team from days gone past. We added their 'trademark' Lilt Can to the game to mark some fond memories. The can is 2,2m tall, can be sling loaded, lobbed, rolled and generally hurled around to create mischief and chaos. Why? Well, much like the ducks, because we can. And it's a bit of a laugh really. It started out as way to test the physX and just got silly. Just like so many easter eggs.

    5) 500 Gallon (2275 Litre) Flexible Fuel Tank.
    Arguably the most useful object in the pack at the first release this is a silingloadable fuel tank. It weighs 2275kg so most helicopters could lift it allowing you to bring fuel to your Forward operating bases.

    A word of warning, these things do roll so you need some skill to deliver them safely and some chocks to prevent them rolling around your compound and taking out your team.

    The second version of this is the double pack. This is obviously two blivets strapped together. And obviously holds twice the fuel or the single. But it weighs twice as much, which means you need a heavy lift helicopter to lift it. The added bonus is that it won't roll away on you and squish your men.

  4. RKSL Foxhound LPPV for A3

    RKSL Studios presents the Official Port of our Foxhound LPPV.
    The Ocelot Foxhound LPPV was specifically designed to meet the UK MoD’s £200m LPPV programme requirements and replace the Snatch Land Rovers in use with the army. The Snatch Land Rovers have been criticised for their inability to provide protection against IEDs and roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan.
    The LPPV programme’s objective was to have 400 light protected patrol vehicles production ready by 2010.
    The UK MoD purchased two Ocelot Foxhound vehicles for testing in April 2010. The invitation to tender (ITT) was issued in May 2010. In September 2010, the Ocelot Foxhound LPPV was selected under the programme against the contender Supacat and NP Aerospace consortium’s SPV400. An initial £180m order for 200 Ocelot Foxhound vehicles was made through urgent operational requirements (UOR) process in November 2010
    In December 2011 a further 100 Ocelot Foxhounds were ordered as part of a £400m package of protected vehicles and Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) technology for British Forces in Afghanistan. The contract was finalised in June 2012. The UK MoD also plans to acquire additional 25 vehicles at a cost of £30m.
    ArmA2 to ArmA3
    This is an improved port of the original A2 release into the A3 game engine.  The model itself is largely unchanged with some minor edits to add features and fix some old material bugs.  This version also supports some of the newer A3 features such as texture customisation.

     GPMG Iron sights - When I asked an RAF Regiment Gunner (that spent 3 tours on the Foxhound) how easy was it to use the iron sights on the Foxhound he replied, "Nearly impossible, the pivot system doesn't let you in most angles unless you are very tall and can twist yourself in knots."  When I asked him how he aimed he replied, "Thats what tracers are for".   Engine Power - The current engine/physx setup approximates the real world power.  ArmA simply cannot simulate the range of the real world gearbox.  Simply put these are not as fast as the vanilla ArmA MRAPS but they are easier to use at patrol speeds.

  5. RKSL Watchkeeper 450

    RKSL Studios presents the WK450 Watchkeeper 450 Remotely Piloted Air System.
    The Watchkeeper WK450 is a Remotely Piloted Air System (RPAS) for all weather, intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance (ISTAR) use by the British Army.
    It has a mass of 450 kg, a typical endurance of 17 hours, a payload capacity of 150 kg and uses a rotary Wankel engine. It can operate up to 150 km from the Ground Control Station (although multiple stations can be linked to extend the range). It was originally intended to enter service in June 2010, but years of delays, technical issues, hardware modifications, difficulties in training sufficient pilots and incidents means that it is not expected to be fully operational until late 2017.

    While the txtures do look ok there is still more work to do.  RVMATs etc The CWIS isnt functioning. The PhysX in the dock is a bit tempermental I need to work on the Geometry a bit more. Animations - radar and cranes etc still need work.   Loading management scripts - while the entire thing is PhysX compatible so you can drive around it.  If you want to load something and expect it to stay put while you move the ship you need to lock it down.  The scripted slots are limited and i'm working on expanding these.. Destruction - I'm planning on makeing it sinkable.  Which means debris and lift rafts etc. Various other bits and pieces.
    Installation:
    Use your mod folders  Use the BIS Addon Launcher.
    Finding the addon in-game:
     In the Editor look under BluFor > UK Armed Forces > Boats > RKSL Albion LPD or RKSL Bulwark LPD.

    Placement ingame:
    Place the ships atleast 20m from shore.  This are big vessels and need space around them.

    Known Issues:
    Placing helicopters on the deck needs to be done carefully.  Dont drop them from height.  This will cause both objects to explode. Steering at speed results in the ship slewing.  Take it slowly at first until you get used to the controls Too much speed can be built up if you are not careful.  This will be limited eventually. Sharp turns resort in listing
    Feedback is gratefully recieved.

    Thanks
    Rock

    HAS - NATO2 - Snow- based on Kegety's Winter Nogojev KEGj9 texture

  10. L96 & L115 Sniper Rifle BETA

    RockofSL posted on the official forum the beta version of RKSL Studios' Sniper Rifle Pack.

    Following quite a bit of rework on both models and textures I'm happy to say that I can release the v1.5BETA of my L96A1 and L115A1 Sniper Rifle pack.
    ...Although Please remeber this is a BETA and may not represent the quality of the finished product.

    Please also note that this release DOES NOT include an animated bipod. This is due to scripting problems.

    The BETA pack contains four models:

    L96A1 - Standard Green livery
    L96A1 Camo - Camouflaged using my UKGrn net texture
    L115A1 - Standard Green livery
    L115A1 Camo - Camouflaged using my UKGrn net texture

    The final release will include Desert, Snow and a slightly modified version of the existing Woodland Textures. As well as an animated bipod.

  11. RKSL Runway Texture Pack 1

    Alot of people have asked to use the Runway textures from RKSL Test Island 1 so here you go. The pack contain 104 unique 512x512 tiles that are based on the standard BIS Nogova B1.paa texture. When put together properly they create a runway that is 100m wide and taxiways that are upto 50m wide - ideal for a proper size airport or large airbase. There are some mismatches in places but i just havent had the time to correct them.

  12. RKSL Sea Shadow

    Rockape from the RKSL Studios has released an unfinished (alpha) version of his Lockheed Sea Shadow on the OFP.info forums.

    I started it as a bit of a idea while stuck in an airport and never really developed it any further. I always meant to do something interesting with it but never really got into it.

    It really needs to be finished by someone so I'm releasing it as is. It needs quite abit of work but if anyone wants to take it on be my guest.

    Cockpit needs finishing Cargo View needs finishing Instrumentation Pilot View Issue with the proxies Textures LODing Having said all that it works ok in game. Although i have taken a bit of creative license with the performance and armament.

    Just to make this clear. THIS IS NOW OPEN SOURCE. This means anyone can do what they like with it all i ask is that if you decide to complete this addon you give RKSL a credit. REQUIRES:

  15. Ilha Marrom

    This is the "Large WIP" I promised a few days ago. Its part of a larger project that has been kicking around the RKSL team and our friends for a long time. (Possibly the worst kept secret in community history since its been leaked so many times.) Its something that has evolved (read as oozed, crawled and eventually walked) over an extened period of time from the primordial ooze that is my office. (Anyone up for a bit of cleaning?)

    It is:
    * 40.9km x 40.9km Island for ArmA2: Combined Operations
    * an ALPHA release and in no way represents anything even closely near finished.
    * being released because so many people have asked for it even in its current state.
    * completely fictional and completely hand made. No DEMs or other geo data were used in its creation.
    * incredibly sparse.
    * 20m cell size to help MP performance.
    * It has a basic but extensive road network
    * 7x working air strips.
    * 2 of which are large air bases.
    * Large port and docks
    * 2km long runways for large jet operations.
    * Only one ground texture.
    * Lots and lots of issues and require a lot more work.
    * some white place holders
    * Several Large reservoirs Ilha Marrom is intended to be the centre stage for a larger community project called Ilhas Africanos. Once I get settled in the new year I'll post more about that. For right now, this is just a taster.
    Oh and a tip... try flying the canyons in the Typhoon at speed.

    Installation:
    As we always recommend use modfolders to seperate the custom content from the official game content to prevent problems.
    For different ways to set up your modfolders and use them please visit our FAQ.

    Notes:
    - This addon is WORK IN PROGRESS. As such don't expect too much.
    - There are several issues with the addon. Mostly Cosmetic in nature. You'll have to live with it in the short term.

  16. ArmA.PBO Extension

    RKSL-Arma.pbo was designed to allow all our current and future systems to be easily applied to vanilla ARMA addons and any other addon that inherits from them. In theory any mission that uses ARMA addons, can now take advantage of these features without having to be repacked.

  17. Lynx AH7 pack

    British Army Lynx AH Helicopter Pack.
    This is a slightly updated port of the ArmA1 helicopters we released earlier. While they do not look much different there are quite a few changes beneath the surface.

    Having said that we will be reviewing a number of our projects in light of ArmA2 engine changes. This may mean that the older models may be replaced with new models better optimised for the ArmA2 game engine and patches.

    Installation:
    As we always recommend use modfolders.

    - All Textures are WIP and will change!
    - Several of the cockpit instruments are blank
    - Cocpit SMDI is too shiny

    - GPMG Texture is poorly optimised.

  22. RKSL Cargo System

    Originally the cargo system was intended for RKSL heavy transport vehicles only. However the idea soon expanded into a generic system, for any Arma addon configured to support it’s functionality. It is most likely that the first stage of release, will support all the default Arma vehicles and objects, considered suitable for the system.

    Compatible RKSL vehicles and objects will be introduced in the future. While initially this will only provide a limited number of transporters and cargo types, it will serve to introduce the concept to the wider community.

  23. RKSL Foxhound LPPV v.0.50BETA

    Foreword: The Force Protection Ocelot is a British armoured vehicle that has replaced the United Kingdom's Snatch Land Rover with British forces. It was given the service name Foxhound, in line with the names given to other wheeled armored vehicles in current British use, such as Mastiff and Ridgeback. The goal in replacing the Snatch Land Rover was to improve protection of personnel against improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Which really wasnt hard since the Snatch was never intended to withstand those kinds of attacks.
    I think Messiah has definitely outdone himself with this one. Considering this is his first addon since returning to addon making after 4 year break he's set the bar really high now and its going to be hard to keep up with him... but we're going to try!
    Features Not really sure there are any features, per say, just adds a couple of Foxhounds - Messiah June 22nd 2013

  25. RKSL Flares and Core System for ArmA2:CO

    This addon is required by all RKSL aircraft. It provides a new Chaff and Flare simulation for RKSL aircraft in the ArmA2CO environment.
    It differs from the BIS flare system in several different ways:
    Each flare object is lockable and as such can be used to provide better coverage over an area. The system does not deflect missiles at silly angles only breaks the lock and forces it onto  the nearest flare object.  You still need to manoeuvre to avoid being hit or damaged.  We feel this is a more accurate simulation of real countermeasures. AI react to the flares being launched where as with the BIS system there is no reaction.
    Installation:
    Extract the contents of the RAR file into your C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA folder. Then either use a mod folder launcher or modify your start up link include the @RKSL Mod folder eg:
    "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\beta\arma.exe" -mod=@RKSL -nosplash For more information about how to use and maintain mod folders check our FAQ.

    Included files:
    rksl-radarsys.pbo
    rksl-system.pbo
    Features  Adding the RKSL FLare system to custom addons:
    This version of the Flare System works differently than any of the previous versions.  We have moved all the configuration variables into the addons config.
            //Configure the RKSL Flares
            memoryPointCM[]    = {"flare_start1","flare_start2","flare_start3","flare_start4","flare_start5","flare_start6"};
            memoryPointCMDir[] = {"flare_end1","flare_end2","flare_end3","flare_end4","flare_end5","flare_end6"};
            rkslflarecount     = 120;
    It now uses the same memory point commands as the stock BI flares and a flare count variable.
    The system then needs to be initialised via a script run from the init eventhandler. Below is the Typhoon's init file:
    //////////////////////////
    // This Script By UNN V1.0
    //////////////////////////

    private ["_vehicle","_callXEH"];

    _vehicle=_this select 0;

    ////////////////////////////////
    // Start the RKSL system scripts
    ////////////////////////////////

    _callXEH = false;

    //Initialize the all the required RKSL System scripts
    //See if the Extended Init Event Handler is installed
    //If it is then we will exit and let it call this script
    //See if rksl-radarsys.pbo is installed
    if (isClass (configFile >> "CfgPatches" >> "RKSL_RadarSys")) then
    {
        _callXEH = call compile preProcessFile ((Localize "STR_RKSL_RADARSYSSCRIPTPATH")+"RKSLConfigInit.sqf");
    };

    ///////////////////////////////
    // End the RKSL system scripts
    ///////////////////////////////

    //See if we can continue or run through the XEH
    if !_callXEH then
    {
        //////////////////////////////////////////////
        // Call the rest of the init scripts from here
        //////////////////////////////////////////////

        [_vehicle] execVM '\rksl\rksl-typhoon\s\rksl_init_debris.sqf';
        [_vehicle] ExecVM "\rksl\rksl-typhoon\s\typhoonwarnings.sqf";
        [_vehicle] ExecVM "\rksl\rksl-typhoon\s\aircraftvapour.sqf";
        [_vehicle] ExecVM "\rksl\rksl-typhoon\s\afterburner.sqf";

        ////////////////////////////////////////
        // End the rest of the init scripts here
        ////////////////////////////////////////
    };
