Puma HC1 video with DRS

We showed you the Puma HC1 earlier in the month. What we couldn't show you in the screen shots was what exactly DRS is. Watch the rotor disc in video carefully and you'll see the Dynamic Rotor System at work.

What is DRS for?

Well it really serves no substantial purpose. Its a cosmetic feature built into the helicopter models we make. Personally i've never liked the flat 2D rotors in ArmA so I worked out a way to make it more realistic. As you can see from the video it changes the pitch of the rotors and imitates the G induced flex of real helicopters. There are 2 varieties:

  • Phase 1 - Is purely cosmetic
  • Phase 2 - Affects handling and flight performance via mass redistribution.

Phase 2 is intended to be used on bigger helicopters such as the Chinook and Merlins. The Lynx and the more agile aircraft will only use the Phase 1 system.

i think i just wet my pants....=O

Either that or its the drool stimulated by watching this epic video

Really very very VERY nice addition you have there, always hated the 2d movement (or more lack of it) in vanilla BIS aircraft, AWESOME WORK.

Is this going to be in your lynx release(DRS)?

Or just read the calender entry on the Lynx. It's pretty clear what the answer is.

cheers for the quote da12thmonkey, didnt see that

Point being (correct me if im wrong) that lynx rotors dont flex anywhere near as much as other choppers due to the semi-rigid rotor head design, resulting in faster climbing speeds.
