Test Island 40 - Boa Verde

The island is 40.91km x 40.91km and is intended to be a mixed but quite arid African environment. The plan calls for a lot of smaller villages and key choke points. Some varied environments, and eventually euro, African and afghan styles of buildings to give the greatest possibility of play.

The initial intention was to create something to allow us to test things in a large space without limits of terrain. But as we have progressed other possibilities have presented themselves. The first release will most likely just be a very basic space with the new buildings as we did with "RKSL Test Island 1" for OFP, but as we get more time Boa Verde should provide an interesting and varied battlefield!

Objective:

  • Realistic Terrain
  • Realistic ranges, i.e. wide realistic valleys
  • Better environment for aircraft
  • Better environment for SAM systems. IE more realistic engagement ranges
  • “Make it once use it often” – the island is so varied it should provide far more scope than Sahrani does.
  • Realistic MP Combined forces playground

RKSL Studios Test Island 40 - Boa Verde

Features:

  • Based on Boa Vista off the west coast of Africa in the Cape Verde island chain.
  • The maps is 40.96km x 40.96km
  • 1677.7 Km sq of TOTAL space.
  • 1342.2 Km sq of Land mass (approx).
  • Mixed terrain types:
    • Mostly arid sandy deserts
    • “Lush” river valleys
    • Large Savannah style area in the SSE sector
    • Rocky mountainous areas in the N and NNE sectors
  • 2x major air fields
    • Civil airport with a small military presence (Western edge of island)
    • Large military airbase with all the bells and whistles that entails (E edge of island)
    • 2 small grass/desert strips for light aircraft etc
  • 2-3 “Terrorist” camps
  • 2x Army Camps
  • Dedicated Bombing range NW Corner in the volcanic rock areas
    • Disused airbase on the bombing range.
  • Multiple SA-2 style SAM sites.
  • Realistic Power infrastructure
  • Large reservoir at 130m ASL
  • New hangers
  • 8 new fence types
  • 40+ new ambient models too
  • 6 figure map references.

Its paused for various reasons. But mainly due to the lack or appropriate foliage. I dont think Chernarus' autumnal plans woud really suit a semi tropical arid environment.

Maybe once Arrowhead comes out we can use the plants and buildings form there to restart it.

BV has been superceeded by Ilha Marrom. Its more of an evolution really but its getting there slowly. Right now the only limit is time and my Photoshop skills.
